Xc60 loose green squib under passenger seat?
Hi guys.
So I am slowly getting used to my 2010 XC60 d5 r design. Apart from needing a repair on the rear dif for £1k. I have noticed a few puffs of blue smoke on start up (gone in 5 secs and nothing under acceleration etc). I am hearing everything from stem seals, turbo, to gasket. Any thoughts? Main point that brings me here, is when washing the car today, I noticed a loose green squib trailing under the passenger seat, any ideas? No warning lights etc. I can get a picture if needed. Thanks in advance everyone. |

You don't state the mileage. Stem seals is a favourite, but there are a number if potential candidates. Luckily it's not a tragically bad job. If it clears almost immediately I'd be inclined to just leave it, at least for the present time.
As for your said, do you have a pic? |

when you say squib do you mean a wiring connector? Volvo has a habit of building a loom for many possibilities and just leaving the spare plugs dangling, might be for heated seats or electric seats? Worries the heck out of you if you've pulled the car apart and at the end of putting it back together you can't work out what should be plugged in there?

Thanks both. It's a 2010 model with 116k on, pretty much full history and manual box. Love the car. Just getting used to the usual first few month gremlins.
I will try and get a picture up tomorrow. It is just a green wiring connector clip, it trails out from under the seat but to nothing. The car doesn't have electric seats. It does have the heated seats, but they all work fine and like I say no error messages. I hope you are right, and it is just a generic look, but it just seems odd. It seems to run under carpet along the sill, then exit out from under the seat runner. |

Best I can say on that is , typical Volvo connector, probably spare, if everything works just tuck it away and don't worry. If you are stuck indoors for a few days you could look online for an XC60 wiring diagram and check the wire colours for things like electric seats, heated seats etc.

Thanks. Just seems really odd to have loose connector sitting there unattached, surely if the airbags circuit was broken a warning would be on somewhere anyway right?
That's my main concern that I am driving the car around without the airbags fully functioning. Mind you, not that the car is turning a wheel right now. I have looked around online but mainly seen posts on XC90s. While I am on, anyone selling or recommend anywhere for floor mats, seen loads on ebay, just not sure the quality. Thanks again folks. |

Air bag circuit users yellow plugs, probably heated seat or electric seat plug.

Thanks. That's a bit reassuring. The car has heated seats so suspect it maybe for the electric seats, which are not present on mine.
Thanks guys. |
