Brake lights
HI,
My rear brake lights have stopped working on my XC90 (2008) the centre strip still functions however and I get a warning on the dash. Bulbs checked and OK, all other lights are fine. I understand that I may need to reset the code somewhere. Can someone recommend a solution or scanner that will allow me to reset the issue? Thanks |

It's unlikely to be a simple reset of a code....
I *think* (but may be wrong) on the XC90 there are two fuses for the rear brake lights - so I'd check all the fuses - they are in the LHS of the boot area. If they're good then try changing the relay. This may be helpful : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gcx6b4Ms6Jo

Your symptoms indicate to me that you could well have a faulty relay. I assume from above you can at least see the rear module. Question is, does it have relays?
You can move them around if they have the same part number and then see if the fault moves elsewhere. If no relays on the rear module, it may be a faulty one in the cem, do same procedure. Hope this helps John l |

This may be of help perhaps, but the years are different.
