Well I managed to dodge the rain today and got the big XC finished at last. I spent 5 hours vacuuming the interior as it was a little nasty. I used Dettol on the dash, gearlever and steeringwheel to disinfect everything (you never know, probably spit and snot all over everywhere in there lol) and then cleaned with proprietary cleaners.

Don't think it's ever been hoovered under here haha

Backs of the rear seats before

And during

And finished

Meanwhile I was busy applying Gliptone Liquid Leather cleaner to the seats before wiping off and applying GTechniq L1 leather guard and CarPro SO2 pure to everything. Here's something drying on the drivers seat.

Drivers floor

The boot. I can deduce the previous owner had a sable coloured dog lol

And after applying GTechniq I1 fabric guard to all carpets and CarPro SO2 Pure, here we have the finished article

The leather is much matter and smells gorgeous!!!

The CarPro SO2 Pure smells of mint so the carpets are nice and fresh

I used CarPro PERL diluted 1:5 to dress the door cards with.

And floor mats in

Obviously, no floor mat under the ISOFIX base

And now, the exterior; I got away with a single stage polish with Menz SF400 on a microfibre pad and followed it up with a CarPro Eraser wipedown to remove any polish residue and then coated with Gyeon Q2 Cancoat and a mix of Gtechniq C2V3 and CarPro Reload to coat the car with. Glass was protected inside with CarPro FogFight. The plastic trim was coated with CarPro PERL diluted 1:3 and wiped down the alloys with another coat of GTechniq C2V3 and re dressed the tyres with PERL 1:1. The stonechips were touched in with a Volvo Seashell touch up and the rest of a Chipex touch up kit I had in the house (no progress shots as I was constantly worried about rain!) The car is like new now and I am very happy. It may look good in the advert pics but it was just valeted and a coat of filler polish was slapped on it and I mean slapped on it so a lot of time was spent getting that out of the nooks and crannies etc. I'm happy at last the car feels like mine

And it's over!!! A few more upgrades are planned including LED conversion (Interior, numberplate and mirror lights) the Hatchbag, a new key case (somehow), a better wheel refurb, and I need to sort the frankly filthy engine bay but that's for next time

So, total time spent:-
62.5 Sean hours (would have been 62 but Lucky leaped into the boot while I was hoovering it!)
0.1 Laura hours (she re-dressed the tyres lol)

Hope you enjoy, and have one of these on me; I have haha

Cheers! I get all my stuff from cleanyourcar.co.uk so head over there and the whole product list will be for sale there somewhere I'm very impressed with the CarPro cube; new products to me were FogFight and SO2 Pure. I've also never used Hydr02 but I really want to so I will at the next maintainance wash. I've cut down my detailing stockpile as I'm all for ceramics these days to make life easy as I don't have the time and the car does have the miles piled on it haha. Glad someone appreciates the car haha

Thanks for the great write up; a lot of hard work, the car looks great. I suspect a bit of OCD creeping in with the stripped vacuuming ;o) I agree with the ceramics route, if only I could afford the stuff.

Thanks Yes the OCD always gets me when it comes to carpet striping and the carpet is so lovely and thick it would be rude not to lol. I used to have a BMW with alcantara seats, can you imagine what I was like with that haha

Yeah no worries, just drop it in whenever you're passing I'll be in haha

On a serious note I'm glad it wasn't a 90 I was doing as this is big enough! Happy I can have a rest now though typical it rained overnight and drips have appeared on the plastic trim!!! I HATE RAIN!!!!!

Hi,

I recently found out that they still sell jeans in Germany with rivets on the back pockets!

So I have scuff marks on a ventilated seat to deal with somehow...

Des. . .

Uh oh! I was put off the ventilated seats as they are perforated and I envisaged hard work cleaning them. That and I found them a bit much for me even though I thought I'd like them. Couldn't afford an XC with climate seats anyway lol. There was a big scuff on the drivers seat not pictured but the Liquid Leather touched that in nicely so I'm sure it'd work wonders on your V8 seats The gel is thick too so it won't stop down the holes haha
