04 S60 D5 - Non Runner
Hi All,
My faithful S60 D5 has just dropped it's timing belt at 230k miles. I've decided due to other constraints not to attempt to repair it, but to move it on as a non runner and replace with a much newer vehicle. The guys who've taken a look at it say that without taking the head off they can't asses what would be involved in fixing it - it could be very little, it could be a lot. If someone wants to take this on as a project - I'm open to reasonable offers. Please contact me on my mobile 07771 533664 or email phil@t5r.org. Phil

It's always a shame for a D5 to leave the road and you're too far for me to be interested unfortunately but do you mind me asking how this happened?
Was it a pulley failure or water pump seizure or aux belt related?

Unfortunately it was a tensioner pulley that let go. Such a shame that a tiny part can bring the whole machine down.

It's a crying shame because at 230k, it was just coming into its prime.
Was it the aux idler or the timing?

My V70 let go its aux belt which flew into the cambelt housing jamming the cambelt and snapping the lower pulley off!
Replacement engine, clutch, flywheel, waterpump etc etc & fitting came to £1800 You can get an engine for about £550, fitting all the new bits to it bumps the price up, but whilst it'll all out, it'd be rude not to, it depends on your budget. |
