The most common cause of this is a failed temp sensor. It fails constantly reading cold so timing is held back and in cold running strat all the time causing a sudden increase in fuel consumption
Failing MAF can also cause it but you usuall notice performance issues. Oil contamination on the distributor cap can also cause consumption issues and will progress to misfire and cutting out issues |
