Yes this happened to my S40 and tbe first indication was no heating and the temp gauge was reading slightly higher than usual. Fortunately I was able to pull over immediately and prevented engine damage. Interestingly the car had only been serviced some two weeks before. I now check the condition of the hoses and clips.

Default V40 1999 model hose clip

One of these modified hose clips is £2.84 including vat and including Royal Mail 1st class recorded delivery, so if anyone wants one let me know. I can get them in stock and posted out to you the same day if ordered by 1pm [Part number is 988028]

Simon
Is it possible to get one please

the standard clip is a volvo galvanised one , but it depends what weather conditions you have , some went rusty in a few years , some are 10 years old now and still look new . The latest replacement is stainless steel though .

Yeah was a galvi clip in the end, finally got the blighter off today (WD40 can't shift solid lumps of rust it seems... When in doubt, hacksaw ) and popped on a shiny new stainless clip.

Thanks again, really was on its last legs!

Done mine today along with the regular service. .. although the car had full service history it was not picked up by the previous owner.

You can see in the pic ... wouldn't last long.
