XC90 LED DRL's just fitted
Hello again just thought I'd share the fitting of some LED DRL's on my xc this morning. Took about 3 hours all in but PERSONALLY loving em.
I bought new grills as well to fit them in so I could take my time. The lights are on bay for about £20 called audi style led drl's. They are larger than most of the ones you see in halfords, have a nice clear over lapping lens, and are curved so ideally hittable on the front little grill to the point the radius is almost identical. So basically pop out the old grill, cut out the shape for the rear housing of the lights, TEST, fit the grill to the car again, then chop out the little bit of plastic thats in the car behind the grill as it wont let the light sit back in properly. Then glue the leds into the grill, I also used cable ties to draw the cable tight back to a bulk head also helping to ensure the lights stay put. Then splice the cables onto the original parking lights, remove the old normal bulb. Note these draw enough not to set the sensor off. Put it all back together and below is what you get. Would love to hear feedback good and bad. I love these new led drl's cars now come with and have been tinkering with several styles but these with a little work really do look almost factory fit ALMOST though not perfect. If anyone is interested though the link is http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A5-A6...#ht_5850wt_907 Thanks for looking |

The volvo grills were £12 each but you can use the originals. I just thought it would be wise to have a normal uncut set to put back if needed.

Awesome.... im doing it! Think they look really smart.
Do you think I could splice them into the sidelight wiring and they will still run ok with BOTH lights on? Last edited by raife; Jul 1st, 2011 at 18:30. |

Bonus, yeh they will absolutely work running both. Be sure to by new blades for your stanley knife, thats how i cut the grills out by the way.
Sort of a pop pop pop at each X in the grill. Good luck and lets have your pics when done hey? |

For sure.... thanks for the inspiration!
I know some won't "approve" but I am a big fan of these type of DRLs and am keen to do it!! |
