Attached are pictures of two 960 and two early 740 tail lights, and a picture of the fender and boot tail lights installed on a 940. The 960 tail light is 1.25" taller than the 740 tail light. I think the cut to the rear body would go right into the trunk space. It might leak a little water. I guess you could trim off part of the trunk lid for the inner light. Also I think you'd have to cover some holes with tape.
