Default Intake manifold pressure

Hi this is my first post on this site ive picked up some great information on here up to now and im hoping i could get some advice.
ive had to replace my turbo and actuator on my v70 d5 (163) recently and i cant find any info on what the inlet manifold pressure should be. i dont want to be over boosting and damaging the engine.
Can anyone shed light on this?
Many thanks.

Your idle is good and the 60mph figure could well be ok too. It's dependant on what gear and engine load you're at.
To test the max figure, hold 4th gear at 40mph then floor it for as long as you dare and watch out for what the max pressure is.

they have been some great info on your videos keep up the good work. Think my max boost pressure was about 30.5 psi so ill leave the actuator as is. Thank you again for the advice.

Little bit of a hijack....Apologies

Are these figures the same for the 185 xc90 D5.

Am I correct that this figure corresponds to the amount of air being blown into the inter-cooler but which is not being sucked into the engine....

if I am correct in this if the turbo is boosting too much it is meeting resistance on the charge side and thus tending to slow down the exhaust side and act like an exhaust brake....

today I had the first real opportunity to drive mine (without believing that it would breakdown or explode) and it definitely does not pull away up a hill on a motorway the way I would expect it to. on the way back in traffic when revved to pull away boost reached around 38 according to torque with about 50% acceleration......

I suspect the actuator is set up better than it had been but still slightly incorrectly. what figures could I look at in torque or VIDA to set it up. ( I am not removing the turbo again but I guess that I could remove the actuator and tinker with that)

Tony

Hi Tony,
I don't know whether 38psi is acceptable on an XC90. It may be mapped that way as standard to allow more boost for a bigger car but certainly on the S60/V70, that would be an unacceptably high figure and classed as an overboost issue.

On Vida, go into Diagnostics >Vehicle Communication >ECM >Parameters and find the manifold pressure then click details or description at the bottom of the screen.
It should tell you your correct figures.

Around 14.5 psi with engine off ignition on is standard across the board though.

VIDA only gives the measurement range of 0 to 5000hpa, (72.5 psi) but no actual max and min number....

my suspicion is that the 30 figure for the V70 is fairly relevant as the weaklinks must surely be the inter-cooler and pipes which are probably similar enough accross the boards.

Tony.
