Attached are some images (from my V70), showing the tail light cluster(s) removal and how to access the LED's on their printed circuit board. Hope these help anyone trying to gain access to them.
Showing body following removal of upper cluster Rear of upper cluster with sealing gasket still attached Rear of upper cluster with gasket removed Showing body following removal of lower cluster Rear of lower cluster with sealing gasket still attached Rear of lower cluster with gasket removed. LED PCB lives behind metal sealing plate in the lower right of this cluster, held in place by two small torx screws Sealing plate removed showing edge of PCB PCB just lifts out. Connected to the cluster contacts by two push on spade type connectors Have fun!

XC70 LED rear marker lights
Hello to all,
sorry for resuscitating this old thread. I have discovered that the left rear light of my 2006 XC 70 is missing the 4 red LEDs marking lights. The light assembly was replaced months ago and I didn't notice the absence of those marking lights (no comment...) and now it's too late to ask for a replacement. Volvo Italy doesn't sell just the LED assembly (and the attached PCB circuit) and I don't want to buy the entire rear light, which is quite expensive. Any suggestion on where to find this LED part on the internet would be precious. Thanks! |

That’s a blast from the past! I found the PCB after ringing around breakers yards.
From memory it wasn’t available new from Volvo as a separate part, but I may be mistaken on that. In the end I sourced one for less than a tenner. Good luck in your hunting!

Thanks for the feedback!
Here (Italy), Volvo stopped selling the LED-PCB part separately from the (lower) tail light, but maybe they still do somewhere else? I also searched the internet for parts sellers but with no results, yet. Raiding the breakers yards is my next option. |

I've gathered some info, for anyone who finds this thread in the future:
- part n. is 30674783 (left) or 8663867 (right) - its specific name is diode bridge (sometimes also "rectifier bridge") - it goes for € 70-80 as genuine Volvo part, but very hard to find - there's a guy in Lithuania called Kliopp who reproduces them for around € 15 (I'm going to try it) |

I've got a couple of the LED PCBs saved from broken rear lights. No idea if they work - if I connect them straight to a 12v car battery will it blow them?

It is worth remembering that it is condensation which kills LEDs ...
