Default "CD ERROR" Not playing a CD.

Hello there,

I have been getting a "CD ERROR" come up on my HU-803 unit the past couple of months, its not like (from what I read) the other errors people have as I can still eject and switch CD's.

When the error comes up I find that eventually it will work if I keep flicking back and forth between the 4 discs until the required one works (they are home made and store bought both with problems).

Sometimes it will work perfectly all the time but say if I switch off the car and back on it will then come up with the error, not all the time though.

It may also happen when I turn the ignition on the CD works fine and then I start the car, when the radio comes back on I get "CD ERROR".

What can I do to fix this other that wasting my time flicking back and forth until it works?

Kind Regards,

Rob Holmes.

Mine does the same. It's a symptom of the unit being on it's way to failing.
No easy or cheap fix so you would be best looking out for a replacement, ideally from a car of similiar year and spec to hopefully avoid compatibility issues.

I find mine is worse in cold weather - I was planning to replace it with an aftermarket unit but now I'm thinking of selling the car so little point.

HTH, Craig.

Perhaps it doesn't like your choice in music.

There is a thread here on replacing the unit with a up to date radio, it looked good too and you get shot a 10 year old dinosaur.

Find the thread bin the Volvo unit.

Here is a start

Had same on my S60, sorted it by keeping the on/off button pressed and turning the ignition to position 2 about three times. This was some time ago and hah never occurred again.
