what a lucky save there, pop under the 1.8 and have a check just incase ?

id like to Add to the "at this age"
Check the rear brake lines where the top U is , the muck and "stuff" that builds up in the suspension/body gap there rots the std volvo pipes.
Check them before they go and leave you stuck/worse...

.....yes, i have had your brake pipes on my mind andy ever since you done your`s .......i have just topped up with antifreeze and water and there was about 1 litre of coolant left in the block according to the spec. so it did literally all fall out!!....i have reached 102 three times now with the auto fan bringing it back down to 96`ish and topped up again so now we have no airbubbles and a hot heater and luckily no bad effects to the engine it runs fine......i think there was someone up there looking over my shoulder!....

"PHEW" and strange as it is,, thank heavens for Slow traffic in town.

im in the middle of doing the rear right pipe at the moment, ill pop a thread up when all done with hopefully some "shock horror" pics of the offending pipes.. and a "swear jar rating" for how much pita the job is.

STD volvo rubber hoses seem to be failing at about the 8-9-10 year age , with the pipes Very shortly after.

Default just checked my hose clip

Good shout! Just fixed a headlight and since the under cover and bumper need to come off I had a look at the hose clip. My old girl is a 99 and I can't imagine it would have lasted much longer.
Defo check it out!

Well I'm glad I'm part of this forum. I bought my s40 gdi in march fantastic car even if some say they have there problems. But don't all cars. Well after reading this threat about bottom hose clips I thought I'd better take a look and yep it was rustier than the titanic. So changed it lastnight and all good now
Thanks to forums like this that look after our cars

Thanks
