Tell that to thousands of Submariners who even cleaned their hands of with diesel after working on the diesel engines.

I am sure that they are now aware of it. Unfortunately many practices that were standard once are later found to be bad for your health. Washing your hands in diesel will certainly not be good for you.

In the Army we used petrol to clean the diesel as per petrol dissolves diesel and it helped to destroy that unique diesel oder.

Regrettably I have lost several ex-colleagues to various forms of cancer which we all considered related to the working conditions but that was, and is currently , impossible to prove. Especially as could simply be down to coincidence.

mmmm....I recall spending many an hour coating our home fences with a combination of creasote & engine oil.....don't think that was so clever now!!
I will endeavour to always use the gloves (although they are not always at the stations..perhaps I need a stash in the car!)

I do keep a 'private' little stash in the cup holder centre section. UK garages are pretty good but I find that gloves are rare at euro service stations. I always use gloves -petrol or diesel.
