Is there anything about that particular box that you're interested to know? I have an older Thule box with pretty much the same features.

Admittedly I haven't used it on the XC60 yet (Outback and Scout yes), but happy to answer generic Thule questions.

Hi, I just wanted to know if the length of this particular one was ok on the xc60, I.e. When the tailgate is open, how far does the front end (if at all) hang over the front windscreen

Slightly O/T but how do you access a roof box on top of an XC60? I need a step-up thingy to wash the roof so wouldn't something similar be needed for a roof box? Just curious.

We have the Volvo SpaceDesign 520 which looks similar to the Thule box you have. The Volvo box has sliders to adjust for different cars I'd imagine the Thule box is the same.

The Volvo box has been on our other car a Citroën C4 GP a medium size people carrier. I had to push it as far forward as it could go on the sliders to allow the tailgate to open fully. The base of the box has an indent which lined up perfectly with the roof aerial. The overhang at the front was just enough to see at the top of the windscreen without giving any noticeable lift or flexing.

my thoughts exactly - towbar mounted box is much more practical on XC60 - unless you are 9' tall

I regularly carry 4 bikes on the roof of my XC60 and the middle racks are a bit of a stretch even at my height of 6'5". So I carry a sturdy foldable metal step in the boot which sits flat and so doesn't really effect boot space. Got it from Lakeland a couple of years ago for £30. It's been worth every penny!

hi guys, thanks for your comments, i had no problem using the box whilst on the roof (im not 9ft tall) just used the motion 200 which done the job, why im asking about the thule motion 800 is ive been offered a deal on one and this is 30cms longer than the motion 200 (which didnt lap over my screen) but dont want a one that protrudes over my windscreen

How about standing on the door sill (with a protection for paint work obviously )
