Thumbs down 20'' Cratus wheels break down of coating

Has anyone else had a break down of the coating on 20" Cratus wheels as fitted to an XC60,it is on the side of the spokes if so is it in anyones opinion a warranty job?

I think I have seen somewhere on these fora that Volvo had an issue with some wheels made by a company called Brabus - or something like that - and I also recall that someone got them repaired or replaced under warranty.

Sorry I can be more specific as it is only a recollection, which may not be totally accurate.

Default Paint coming off

Hi, I have just noticed this on my wheels too, let me know if you get any joy from the dealer or Volvo, my warranty has just expired and although I have an extended warranty I doubt that covers this sort of thing.
I would also appreciate anyone's input if they have got a result from this defect

The one where people had problems was me and mollusk. The wheels were made by Borbet in Germany.

We had one wheel replaced and corrosion appeared almost as bad as the other three. Ideally you need to take the wheels off and view the inside as it could be even worse.

Do not be surprised if they say it is refused if they have any kerbing what so ever. Ideally you need to contact Lloyd Marchant - Head of Customer Relations who sorted ours I would go with replacement wheels as refurbishment via Volvo screwed up three times with us (for the record anyone who does read the Borbet thread in the General Volvo section yes ours did get refurbed but outside of the Volvo network, for which Volvo stumped up for - this is not usually an option for anyone, and yes did it come with a caveat of releasing Volvo from any future obligation on the wheels).

I don't think it's isolated to the 20's, I had my 18" cratus done under warranty too last year.
As mentioned volvo outsourced them to an external refurbisher.

As mentioned by ninja they do everything possible to wriggle out of it. To such an extent they insisted one of the wheels had been refurbed before (due to a v slightly textured finish), despite me texting the original owner in front of the volvo employee who confirmed they hadn't been fettled.
The guy is a fraud investigator so I don't have reason to question his integrity!

I had to cough up £70 due to the standoff, I exasperatedly explained having 3 refurbed only for them to leave one potentially a different shade was petty and daft but they insisted on taking my money. On a £30k+ car. Muppets.

Have today been in touch with a dealer who is going to fight my case, the wheels in fact not on the car at present as Ihave a second set of wheels, no kerbing damage and all the corrosion is in the same area and appears to be caused by the wheels not being properly cleaned before the coating was applied.

Sounds similar check the manufacturer as it should be on the rear of the spokes. Can I also say that it is not a coating but paint not powercoat.
