Default V70 headlight bulb replacement.

Hello all,
I know this has been bought up a number of time in the past and in fact I found some very usefull advise on here. Anyway, with my OS ( drivers side) dipped bulb blown I thought I was in for a headache replacing it. I just couldn't face paying a garage to change a light bulb so here's how it went.----- Remove top part of the ECU cover,2 clips then hinge off. Center section ECU cover 3 clips and slide up and off the 2 ECUs.Remove rubber cover off rear of the light. Now without this I dont know how I would have managed, A mirror on a telescopic stalk with a rotating head, similar to a dentists mirror but a bit bigger. £1.50 end of aisle local supermarket. A torch shining into the mirror shows you whats what. Now I taped a a lollipop stick to my right index finger with a little notch cut in the end. This extended my finger by 3" and made dealing with the spring retaining clip a doddle. However, inserting the new bulb and plugging up my wife did as her hands are smaller than mine. So, 35 mins later all done and dusted. ) .

Lightbulb

The O/S headlight bulbs are reasonably easy to get at on my 185bhp V70SE D5 AWD. The ECU and Air Filter are integrated and on the N/S of the engine bay, so the bulbs on that side are a bit more difficult, and are easier to access with the ECU & Air Filter cover moved out of the way, but not all that bad realy.

Welcome to the forum. Always a wise move to use the search facility before posting as this subject has been covered many times. FYI - my local Volvo dealer will fit them for free if you buy the bulbs from them - it's a lot less hassle!
Cheers,
Nobby
