All the wiring you could use should be there behind the radio.
I have no idea otherwise.

If you know which cable adapter you installed, maybe you can check with a fitter if this is appropriate or perhaps there are small modifications for the cable?

I'll figure it out somehow.

Thanks Dave, these units seem really heavy duty, plus being branded helps as you know they are built to last. The lens cover is glass, the shell is steel and they are totally sealed units which is good as believe me Ive tried just about every led going, alot of them are cheap plastic and not sealed right or where the cable enters the unit, theres no sealant. Water eventually gets in - after a week in my case and the leds blow one by one or all at once- v frustrating and daft driving home with only one working!

Take my advice, pay a bit extra for betty quality ones.

Will put some more pics up after the weekend

Cheers
J

I've installed the new Phillps LEDs.

Not as bling/bright as the other ones but I'm happy with them. A real professional kit. Robust, waterproof and long lasting looking.

They stand slightly proud of the fog inserts ans Ive angled them as much as I can so that they point straight ahead.

I had to epoxy glue the units into the fog insert as theres not enough lip on the bumper to install the brackets. I used a black gutter sealant from Poundland to fill in any gaps around the edge.

With the Philips units it sys to connect red to battery, black to battery and orange to sidelight so that when you turn off your sidelights, these come on. However we all know Volvos work differently and the sides are always on so I connected the red to the sidelights and left the orange wire so that the units stay on all the time when the engine is running.

they look really nice. My wife really likes the look of your grille....I then explained that you had to replace the lights & bumper to accomodate the new style grille.....hence, we are staying as we are with my V50

Thanks Dave!

The leds are toned down to the others as I always had this 'they are too bright thought going through my head'

Another type of LED is on the new S60 and xc60 in tge side of the bumper next to grille. It means cutting out the bumper. May look odd on the S40.

So you cant twist het arm in letting you undertake a few subtle mods?

Look at JBs post, he managed to do most of it for £300 or so, im not that lucky and its cost me in excess of £4k but its a hobby and keeps me smiling.

Jonnie,
I found a piccy where someone has installed the LED rings on the dipped beam.
I'm not sure the blue appeals legally speaking but they look very nice!

JB

Not sure about the blue but a good job done on the install by this Polish chap.

The other pic looks like there are yellow ones installed.

I think I prefer the hid cffl/halo rings - bright light

Not sure whether I will or not (perhaps that boy racer look?) What do you think?

I think I need to get the SMDs for the vertical LED strip - which did you recommend?

A general question about LED replacements and more:

I spoke with Volvo maintenance shop person about it, and he said that on my 2010 S40, the computer will "know" if it will replaced and will "shout" that something wrong.

Well, will "he"?

Also, where can I found a PDF file for manual and parts for mine 2010 type?

Thank You
