Default Top torque rod replacement

For a little while I've suspected that the top engine torque rod on my V70 might be a little tired, but haven't really had the opportunity to investigate beyond a cursory look and exploratory wobble. Although the bushing appears to be intact, there are some fine cracks in the rubber, and it's very easy to move the torque arm several millimetres from side to side.

Having seen a poly bush insert that simply plugs into the gap around the existing bush I though I'd try my own version, and managed to push in a short length of 3/8" thick walled rubber hose, held in place with a cable tie.

The slight jolt that accompanied the selection of D or R has disappeared, and the automatic shifts are definitely much less noticeable.

As a more permanent fix I'm going to order a replacement arm, but am rather confused by all the options available. PartsforVolvo have a non-OEM arm at under £30, and other sites are priced at anything between £30 and £60.

Does anyone have experience and a particular recommendation for an aftermarket arm? I don't want to waste money on something that won't last, but the same token I don't want to pay over the odds!

Thanks

Cheers

Jack

Agree with Simmy! Go genuine, where possible, on anything separating that 5 pot diesel from the chassis.

31670126 - https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-part...right/1054963/ - but confirm the part with your local dealer as manual may differ from automatic.

And tempting as they may be steer clear of Polybush on the diesel engine mounts as they just transfer vibration back through the car. Certain lower suspension components yes but engine mounts a no no.

This topic has cropped up several times on the earlier P2 forum, and advice has always been as offered above. I would agree too. A D5 diesel is a vibrating lump whether its in a p2 chassis or P3...
Cheers Bob.

Febi Bilstein.

I picked up a “genuine” Volvo one from the dealership and it had a Febi stamp on it, in Volvo packaging.
