Default Anyone towing with an xc90

Hi,I'm looking at buying an 03/04 xc90 d5 163bhp, does anyone tow a caravan with one of these, if so how does it perform on a roads and motorways? My caravan has a mtplm of 1450kg.I understand they can suffer from a slight lag on moving off from a standing start? Any other thoughts or opinions on the car in general would be greatly appreciated, many thanks james.

Hi,

The practical caravan review of the XC90 while good overall, was less complementary on the engine power.

Not sure when the D5 was updated, but having one chipped will give better performance and fuel economy so still a worthy contender.

My Dad's been towing with one all the time they've been out; the 180 is a better engine to tow with than the 163, but either way they're sorted. He used to tow a Knaus, but tows a fendt (or tractor as i call it, gypsy van as my brother calls it!!!), so they're not the lightest of all vans, but doesn't have any problems.

He's now switched to a new XC70 as it's only a little bit lighter than an XC90
