Throttle body cleaning questions
Hi, I've got a rough idling on my 1.8 2000 s40 (GTD) so following advice on this I want to try cleaning the throttle body and the parts attached.
Two questions: 1) With no mechanical knowledge WHATSOEVER where can I find it, is there a guide or picture on here somewhere? 2) More importantly, I heard volvo have to program this part, will I make things worse taking it apart by re-setting it or something and screwing my car up?! (see? No knowledge at all!) |

Interesting,
I phoned a local Volvo specialist in Derby today and asked how much they'd charge to clean out the throttle body and they said they don't do it on GDI engines and that when they go wrong they just have to be replaced at great expense! So I've been to the local Mitsubish dealership and the mechanic was much more encouraging, when I asked if he'd cleaned one out before he said he'd stripped them down and re-built them. It is booked in tommorow for a cost of £85 and he seems confident he can make it run smoother. Does it seem like a fair price etc? Any comments? Russell |
