vovlo 460 1.8i , perfomance
Hi there people I have a 1993 460 with the 1.8i B18U
I'm experimenting with the possible addition of power, I was wondering if anyone knew if I can switch the SPI unit for the MPI unit for more power? Also I have been wondering if anyone has suggestions for adding some BHP ? eagerly awaiting comments |

I do not mean go out and buy a turbocharger and fit , i meant find a rusty 440/460/480 turbo and use the bits for yours .. However they are pretty rare now .

Ah ok , i have got my eye out.
They did a 1.8 mpi though didn't they , mine is spi. So if I take the Ecu ,inlet and injector rail from the mpi it should work ? What do you think ? 👍 |

You would have e to change the wiring loom over too. If you are going to all that work you migration as well go for a decent amount to of power.
I haven't heard ofa 400 series fitted with one but what about a Renault F7P or F7r or F4R? |

The F7P swap has been done. You could even fit a formula Renault engine!

Cubes
The 2.0 litre ones are quick.
Many of the turbos lost their engines for fitting in Renaults, the Volvo version of the engine being stronger, I understand.

re
I thought all 1.8 engines were single point, the others were multipoint, with some 1.7s being carb'd or turbo'd.
The 2.0 is a good compromise, not as complex as the Turbo but goes very well and can crack over 40mpg on a run. R |
