Volvo V60 T4 180 bhp petrol consumption

Hi guys,


I have a doubt so wondering if someone could help me

I have seen a few Volvo V60 T4 second hand on sale with low mileage from 2013, 2014 and 2015 The one I am interested in is the V60 t4 which is a petrol engine 1.6 with 180 bhp. I have seen the consumption that Volvo shows and I am quite surprised as currently I owe a Volvo c30 1.8 petrol with 123bhp and Volvo says both cars spend the same.

I know that manufacture often declare lower consumption so the real is sometimes around 20% higher

Volvo v60 1.6 t4 Urban 10lt highway 5.7lt combined 7.2lt which is exactly the same than my C30

My question is, if any of you owe a V40,v50 or v60 with that petrol engine 180 bhp for those year approximately. Can you tell me how heavy the car is in petrol? I find hard to believe that spends the same than mine?

Firstly The manufacturer is not allowed to quote fuel consumption figures... so they wont be cheating.

The figures you see are the Government ones which are all obtained from a standard computer road drive..

The purpose is ONLY to compare one car type or make against another. they will all have had exactly the same road test in effect.

Secondly Turbo charged cars can be as economical as you want the turbo is capable of using vast quantities of fuel if you drive it flat out yet will use very little more than a standard 1.6 petrol if you drive it gently . Also a hilly area will use more fuel as you will be keen to use the turbo to get up there effortlessly due the extra power generated. I would guess you would get 40+ mpg oh a motorway run at 65- 70 mph and 33 on general use...

The 1.6 turbo is direct injection too ( like a diesel) which is more efficient than standard fuel injection.

Wait for someone here to come and say what they get from their 1.6 petrol turbo ....


I just saw you live in Spain maybe they have different ways of doing things ?

I did not know that...I thought that they were the manufactures giving lower figures.

In another words, you say a turbocharged is not so expensive to run unless you squeeze it which is understandable and when you drive normally would be normal consumption

Yes, it would be helpful also to hear someone that has one of them to see what they say

Oh yes, I am from Spain, but need to update my profile as I live in Ireland

While I am happy with my old C30 the reason why I ask all these questions, is because I have seen some Japanese import cars with very low mileage. Most of them are petrol and automatic (not a fan of automatic cars but I tried one a few months ago, an was nicer than expected)

The ones I see are that engine 1.6 180 bhp as the other I have seen with 150bhp I believe is a bit tight as such a heavy car might be a bit slow...even still quicker than C30

And I would not consider to buy different car brand as I really believe Volvos must be one of the safest cars
