Check light illuminated
The check light has illuminated on my wife's V40 D2 ,car has covered 12000 miles and its a 2015 model (2 lt engine), came on late friday night, ringing dealer tomorrow.
Just wondering if any one else has had this problem, and is the car still ok to drive? thanks in advance. |

Had the Check Light come on my 2016 D2 yesterday; 5 months and 4000 miles. Took it into the dealer this morning and the fault code indicated an O2 sensor. Sensor cleaned and seems OK, shall monitor.

Engine Management Light Again
The EML came on again today. Same as last time, no other symptoms or unusual circumstances. Booked into dealer next Monday for investigation. During discussion about the possible fault, an O2 sensor malfunction was described as "not uncommon".

O2 sensor cleaned again and fault subject of technical report to Volvo who are seeking a long term fix for the issue. Will have to go back when they have solved the problem. At least I got the fuel filter changed as apparently there is a recall for this item

Well, back in the dealer’s for the 6th time with the Engine Check light issue. A little different on this occasion as the light extinguished after 2 days indicating that the fault condition had cleared and not been detected again for 3 consecutive ignition cycles.
Different messages from Volvo and the dealer’s service department. Volvo confirmed that they will continue to support EGR faults outside the warranty period until a solution is found. However there is no solution at present and no timescale for resolution. Investigation is continuing. The dealer announced that a new software patch had been issued within the last 14 days which it was hoped might solve the problem. The patch alters the DPF regeneration process and should reduce the tendency for the O2 sensor to become fouled. They were surprised that Volvo hadn’t mentioned this. Anyway, the software is updated and we shall see what transpires. exmpa |

Now here’s a turn up, the dealership phoned today to tell me that the day after I had the patch loaded a new update specifically intended to fix the EGR issues was released.
So, on Thursday I’m taking the car in again for the latest “fix”. exmpa |

You have the wrong engine for the mileage you are doing. Aside from all these other faults, your DPF will soon be blocked (if not already). Six thousand miles a years is way too low for a modern diesel engine. It suggests the car is used for short, local trips in the main.
