I drive a 98 V70R auto (wanted manual but this was at a silly price!). Driving home from work around 10.30pm Friday night, taking it easy and a 63 plate VW Transporter Van TDI flew passed me! Fancying a dabble, popped her into D3 Sports and kicked on. Straight foot race to the next roundabout and I got infront but not by much. The next section of road was a windy piece of A road in Mid Wales. The Van took over and I can safely say completely out performed me and left me!!! It was raining with leaves on the road and obviously dark but we were anywhere between 85 and 3 figures most of the way! Before the wind ups about not being able to drive etc, I'm and advanced driver, experienced and have done plenty of track work! I simply couldn't match this van for handling. I was on the limit! A manual would've helped but I'm still gutted! Sorry guys, I had to tell someone!!! The other guy could clearly drive but it was still a van and the power it had was serious!
the Vw van is same kind of power as a D4 180 bhp 400 nm .. you aren't an advanced driver by the way ... ! far from it ...

TOTAL TOOL in my opinion
Dark, Rain and leaves!! 85+mph on a B road, you are far from advanced.
Grow up, one day you'll kill someone.

You can edit all you like, but your post has been quoted for all to see. Agreed, you said A road and not B road, but it doesn't take a brain surgeon to work out that you say you were driving irresponsibly in excess of 85.

Well said! An Advanced Driver wouldn't risk life and limb driving at 85 mph on wet leaves.

Ehrm, we've done this one already - please take a read back through the earlier posts and then move on........Think the OP realises the error of his ways from the numerous 'should know better' type posts he's already had (and I'm sure none of us have ever done anything so foolish on the roads ever, ever, ever )

A V70R is fast, but not really that fast, being honest.

I don't race people but sometimes just as a test of my car I will put my foot down for a brief period to judge the performance. I always ease off after a few seconds though.

A while ago I was passed by a fancy looking transporter van (older model on a private plate, probably about 2002?), so thought I would try and catch it up for a closer look. I couldn't, so eased off..! Approaching the roundabout where the traffic was stopped I pulled up behind it and it had T280 written on the back. Obviously suped up. Nice looking van as well.

Regards
