V90 & V90 CC alloys
I am looking at getting a V90. I am not a big fan of ever fatter wheels and tyres. I noticed that the V90 comes with 245 or 255 section tyres on 19" wheels, but the V90 Cross Country runs 235 on 19" wheels. Does anyone have the specs of the XC and standard V90 wheels, i.e. width and ET.
Can I run 235 on the standard inscription wheels when it comes to replacement? At present I run on 225 section tyres and that is plenty to keep me on the road and to put the power down. Last edited by Gazdok; Oct 21st, 2020 at 14:06. |

If you really want narrow tyres then the 17" wheels come with 225 section tyres on them.
I do wonder why you want to change the section of the tyres from what the manufacturer fits as standard? I actually understand going wider more than i do going narrower? |

Apart from the fact that wider tyres usually give a harsher ride, are more expensive to replace and through higher rolling resistance have a worse fuel consumption there is not much gain other than optical if you like this sort of thing.
I accept that your braking distance might be a little shorter, but I think in reality most drivers will not experience this benefit. On our previous V70 Volvo had a star engineer on the case. The car was really designed for 195ers but due to market pressure - the competition was going wider and taller - Volvo then marketed the V70 with 225ers and then even with 245ers which meant the tyres would have been rubbing and that is a MOT failure. So Volvo cleverly used steering locks increasing the turning circle to oil tanker dimensions. |

Standard CC wheels are 18s (235/55R18), nice enough, but difficult to keep clean.
