You realise the energy involved here when you see how far the lorry continues to travel after the collision. So the XC90 must be been hit and then pushed backwards for 10s of metres......

I wonder how fast the XC90 was going at impact?

Isn’t that a pre SPA model? Not sure the current ‘Chinese’ versions would do so well. They can’t even spec a powerpulse hose that lasts..

I have absolutely no doubt that the existing model is a significant improvement in occupant safety over the previous model.

The energy involved in stopping a 2,000kg+ piece of metal and then sending it back in the opposite direction from which it came, is immense - and to dissipate all that energy with so little damage to the passenger compartment is phenomenal.

I agree... new XC90 is way better than the previous model. And... nonetheless i also need to make justice to my car
... new XC60 also way better than the pre spa XC90. I guess no one in here have doubts about it. But overall i need to say that Volvo is really amazing about its cars... solid tanks.
