ERAD Issues
Anyone know if there are many incidents of a second ERAD failure ? Just curious as it helps me consider how long i keep my T8 XC90 for.
Its got 64000 miles now, and a full ERAD replacement (not the kit), at 49,000 miles, 18 months ago.... Thanks in advance |

It is interesting that you had a complete ERAD fitted. My understanding is that they redesigned the clutch pack and housing on the end of the ERAD to prevent the failures. They made a kit of these redesigned bits available so that existing failed ERADs could be recovered and repaired at less cost. So, you had a complete ERAD which suggests it was before the kit was available. But was it before the redesign? That is the key question for me. If they fitted a Gen1 ERAD then it is more likely to fail. A Gen2 one should be a lot better. I have also been told that the housing on the end of the ERAD is different following the redesign, so maybe a visual inspection could answer this question if you know what you are looking for of course....
