Volvo XC60 Advice

Hello everyone,
I need urgent help. My best friend is hunting for a used Volvo xc60 and he said he must buy one within a week time. And since he knows nothing about the model (he hasn’t even taken a road test yet) I’m afraid he might make a rookie mistake. I told him not to be in a hurry but he is very stubborn. Therefore I need some piece of advice according to his criteria about the car, namely:
1.diesel engine
2.not less than 163 hp
3.automatic transmition
4.MY around 2013-2016(year may vary + - 2).
5. AWD (4x4)
I also have some additional questions:
Which models to avoid?
Which is the best and less troubled diesel engine?
Most reliable gearbox?
Anything else that might prevent him buying a pig in a poke? In other words we need less problematic car. I know there is no such thing as a perfect car….
I will be grateful for any piece of advice from 1st hand owners and those who have friends with this particular model.
