Code ecm-p003a17
Anyone know what can cause this code?
Last week I noticed boost wasn't holding and today after doing my timing belt I have a look over it and can't see anything wrong. It seems to boost up to 2k but after that it feels like the turbo cuts out. Sometimes when accelerating hard you can feel the boost pulse a little like your dipping the accelerator on and off. Thanks

I'd do a search for that code under "Ford".
Defective or damaged boost control solenoid (e.g. lever stuck, broken, bent, etc.) Corrosion causing high resistance (E.G: Connectors, pins, grounds, etc.) Wiring issue (e.g. Frayed, open, short to power, short to ground, etc.) ECM (Engine Control Module) internal issue Excessive exhaust soot in vanes of charger, causing stagnant high/low/incorrect boost levels Boost control module issue Exhaust leak Read more at: https://www.obd-codes.com/p003a Copyright OBD-Codes.com Ideally get the codes read on VIDA. |

Will get a better chance to go over the car when I have time just thought it could have been a common problem and an easy fix. Thanks

Today done a vacuum test and it all checked out ok... The actuator is moving fine...
Could the actuator position sensor cause this?

Just an update for the sakes of anyone else having this problem. Today I noticed a buzzing noise coming from the turbo area once I shut the engine down for around 15 seconds.... First I've heard it tbh. I did buy a new sensor and waiting on it arriving so hopefully the actuator will be the fix.
Will update further

Changed the sensor today and it's fixed the hesitant power. Code still remains though

If the replacement sensor fixed the fault, one of two things will apply. Either the ECU will wait for a set period of time without receiving the faulty data and then stop sending the warning or you will have to cancel the warning with VIDA.. Of course it is still possible that there are two faults and you've only fixed one of them but this doesn't seem likely.

The power seems to be returning too after resetting the ECM settings. The buzzing noise is coming from the tcv too when car is turned off.
