]The ride over the potholes is very hard? Any thoughts to assist? Change wheels and tyres? Can one put in softer springs? Thanks

I was given a v40 d2 R design as a courtesy car when our V70 SE Lux was in for work. I found the ride to be far too hard. Potholes, speed bumps, patches, broken surfaces...all were painful events.

I think the answer is to try a car on standard suspension and wheels, and look to trade for it. Trying to modify an r design to standard will cost you more in bits and insurance than swapping vehicles.

I find our V40 D4 R-Design to be back-breaking hard! Wife love it though

I think that 38 is about what they should be for the Eco pressure.

I left the wifes R Design in for first service on Monday and got an SE as a courtesy car, I thought there would be a noticeable difference in ride. If there was I didn't notice it. No real difference at all, the roads are just plain awful over here and that's the problem. I have a 2014 XC60 SE on 17"s and even it feels a bit harsh. V40 R Design looks awesome so that's the trade off.

Choose a set of 7.5 16" wheels. http://www.lkperformance.co.uk/alloy...?wheel_size=16

Then choose as big a size of tyre for the rim as you can fit under the wheel arch. Look for the maximum diameter you can fit. It's a big sidewall you want. You can go to about 2.5% to give a good selection of tyres. http://www.alloywheels.com/Tyre_Calculator Then choose a set tyres in your chosen size. Don't get XL rated tyres and look for ones with good rolling resistance. ie. the ones with good fuel ratings.

This will improve the comfort levels and should come in under a £1000.
