S60 HELP - URGENT - how to open boot with no battery connect
I'm new to S60 having owned it about 2 weeks.
It's a 2006 D5 auto. I can't use the car till this is solved - how can I open the boot. In preparation for doing an ATF fluid level check I disconnected the battery in the boot - after a while it started to rain a little and I closed the boot. Now I'm stumped because the boot release doesn't work. I connected a 12v supply to the big +ve stud under the bonnet at the side of the fuse box and earthed the -ve from the supply thinking this would allow the boot release to operate but it doesn't. Dash lights illuminate when ignition is switched on but the boot wont release. Was my external 12v supply too small - I think it will supply 7 amps. I can't use the car till this is solved - how can I open the boot? Thanks - Colin

OH - now who is the fool - ME.
I didn't know there was a keyhole behind that plastic plug, I didn't know there was a plastic plug. I thought it was purely an electrically operated boot release. Problem solved - thanks. Colin

The ECU on mine is on top of the air filter housing and this has to be removed to gain access to the gearbox FILL plug.
Therefore, AFAIK, the ECU has to be disconnected to allow the air filter housing to be moved out of the way. I understand the battery should be disconnected before unplugging the ECU. The gearbox is the 6 speed geartronic TF80-SC. If there is another way I'd welcome that advice as I'm not yet familiar with this car. I haven't removed anything yet except the engine undertray as rain stopped play as I reconnected the battery. Colin

YUP pain in the cunning linguals to check the atf on facelift s60 cars, the air box is in the way even on the ones with the ECU in the normal position
