Default Xc90 fan blower Falut

Hi everyone I like to run a problem I’m having with my 2011 xc90 d5 my interior fan seems I seem to have a slow battery drain which iv found out to be the fan or the resistor it drains over a 5 day period if I pull the fuse I don’t get a drain at all. So I went out and got a brand new fan and resistor for it but the moment I plug it in the fan in flat out and there no turning it off no matter what u do less u in pug battery. Iv tested the live earth and communication and diagnostic wire from ccm to the fan it self and all ok iv even got a replacement ccm unit and programmed it but with same fault. Seems odd that my stock fan works fine but has a small drain but brand new parts with same part numbers and it runs none stop. Is there a chance the new resistor needs to be programmed to the car it self or anyone got any ideas of what I can check many thank

No, it's plug and play replaceable.

When you say, "brand new parts with the same part number", are these Volvo originals? Or aftermarket. I'd automatically be suspicious about non-genuine parts being correct.

Try using the new "resistor" with the old fan and see what happens. My suspicion - it will go full on and won't turn off. Wrong or defective part.

If so, try using the new fan with the old "resistor" - I suspect that will be fine but you'll still have the drain. Fault in the original part causing a parasitic drain but still largely functional.

Iv got two resistors one from eBay and one from my local motor factors both of them same the same part numbers as the stock one but none of work as they should. If I plug the old resistor in to a new fan unit works fine. If I plug the new resistor in to oil fan on none stop .Being Volvo say they got about a 10 year life span been nice to change it all I may try look for a genuine Volvo resistor

Then you have your answer. The non-Volvo parts you have are incorrect. I suggest purchasing the correct part from a Volvo dealership before you waste any more money.

For clarity, I refer to the "resistor". There's likely nothing at all wrong with the original fan motor.
