Default Wheels to clear 302mm brakes

Morning guys,

I’m looking to find out what wheels will clear the brakes once they’ve been upgraded to the 302mm discs & T5 calipers.

It’s on a 740 estate and I’m looking to run as small as possible.

Any help appreciated!

I'm fairly sure you'll have to go to 16" wheels to fit those, maybe even 17" wheels. I've got 287mm discs on the front of mine with 15" wheels, it's tight but they clear.

As the discs you're looking at are 15mm bigger, i reckon 16" wheels should do the job, likely source would be an early 960 (not the late one as the offset changed) and you'll need 205/55/16 tyres for the correct diameter.

Aurigas are 16" and also Galaxies, but they are expensive. I'm not sure if either will clear though

Volvo provided a wide choice of wheels, first section of this pdf shows them with fitments :

It might be worth asking around members who live near you to see if they have a wheel you could borrow to see if it clears your planned set-up on the brakes.

Unless you plan on using the car for track days though, the normal 740 system is up to the job of stopping the car very well.

I can lend you a 16" Auriga if you are passing Glasgow. Bit of a trek to Beauly though

Dave,

Novas that were standard fit on all 960 mk1 were the same size as the Omegas on 760 mk2 ie. 15in.
