Default Wanted, Vinyl Roof.....

......For a 262c if anyone can help or know if this is available anywhere. I have removed the old torn sundried brittle one off the car and will have either a new one made and fitted or if it works out cheaper to have a new one sourced and fitted?
Many thanks
Peter

I have no idea if that "part" is available, but I'd guess not.
A vehicle upholstry specialist might be able to help for a price, it's a fairly standard job but one that requires the windows to come out to do properly.

If you're considering doing it yourself, Tolex is the closest material you'll find (cotton backed vinyl), oft used for covering old.guitar.cabinets. It comes in widths up to 54"/137cm, which should be wide enough for a roof.
If you're doing it real cheap, Marshall in Bletchley will sell you Tolex off the roll from their spares dept cheaper than anywhere else. Three yards might do it...

Many thanks for your reply. I will contact them.
Yes I will remove all the glass and do as much prep myself, leaving the covering to an upholsterer.
Cheers Peter

I have been in touch with Marshalls who will not sell any of their Tolex unless I supply serial numbers and part numbers, so drawn a blank on that, so looks like Everflex will be the only route for replacing the vinyl top.
Thanks for the headsup anyway.

Oh well, worth a try - thought "elephant hide" might have been a closer pattern than Everflex "wrinkle", but if it's good enough for Rolls Royce it'll probably do for a Bertone. Which colour Everflex?

Yes it was worth a try thanks. I have found Everflex on special and it worked out £18 cheaper than Tolex. We have had a price to fit the vinyl top at £500 the covering is £86 for 4 metres. I have been watching a you tube posting on how to vinyl a roof, but looking very intimidating

I do need a rear C Pillar moulding but will post that in wanted threads.

Cheers Peter

Hi, Thought it about time I did a small up date on the 262c, Not much really. The car is just sitting waiting for me to find the time to do some minor body repairs so I can prime the car before having the top recovered. I managed to source the vinyl last October from a Vinyl supplier. Hopefully by the end of the year she will have a new vinyl top fitted and engine running without being on full choke and filling the atmosphere with choking fumes
