240 B230F non-starting
ok, here's a teaser for you. my 1992 240 developed a reluctance to start when damp, however after winding it over for ages it always went. the car behaved faultlessly other than that. i used the car on Sunday. On tuesday morning it refused to start. there is power to the coil and from the coil to the distributor, but absolutely no spark. I have changed HT leads and plugs. the distributor appears to function ie it's not damaged or seized. Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated!....

RE: 240 B230F non-starting
Simon,
Try turning it over in the dark when you or a friend can have a look at the distributor cap. You are looking for something along the lines of the Blackpool Illuminations. This is caused by the charge for each plug post tracking along tiny invisible cracks to earth. The remedy is a new distributor cap if you find that the light display is there. (Been there - done that and it did look pretty!!) You could alsu ensure that the contact points on the posts are clean and good.
