Default 240 glt fuel pump

Just bought a 240 glt. Drives like new but the fuel pump has become very noisy in the last few days. Is the pump for the 2.3 the same as the 2.0? Easy to fit? Any help appreciated.

Willy,

Is there an 'in-tank' fuel pump on your car? If there should be one and it is not working, this will cause the main pump to overwork and start to make noises.

If you do need to change the main pump I would suggest changing the pump and accumulator as a unit. A working pump/accumulator unit from a breakers will not break the bank. Removal / fitting is an easy enough operation. Disconnect the power lead, clamp the fuel lines and remove them from the unit, three (I think) screws holding the backing plate in situ (this operation needs to be done first so as to gain access to the components on the backing plate. I think that that is all - but it is a few years since I have done this.

Thanks, I'll check both and get my hands dirty.
