Wow, I really am being shafted living in London, clearly :-)

We tried comparison sites, and that was the going rate it seems. Its up for renewal in September, so will try LV as well.

Many factors apply to car insurance. If you apply the basics of insurance to the pot "a fair premium commencerate to the risk brought to a common pool" Then you have to look at these factors.

Location
Age of driver
Drivers claim record
Can't use sex anymore but it was a factor
Cost of repairs
Cost of total loss
Claims record on such car
Accident mitigation

That's just the tip. But apply those to Volvo and there are factors within that reduce premiums against other makes of similar value and types.

the Volvo 7 Day drive away insurance doesnt cover business use so was no use to me, I used them for the first year anyway and they were pretty good. As with most insurers though had to move around after that.

LV gave me by far the best quote for my XC60 compared to all the others. Most quotes £400-600 but LV £270 for same if not better cover. Would certainly recommend trying them, they also appear on comparison websites.

Volvo insurance quoted me £4000+ per annum on my new MY19 XC60 and that is despite me having 12+ years of NCD. I then tried several others and so far the best quote is from LV whi quoted me £760 per annum if not for a similar but a better policy than Volvo.

Identical to mine plus an extra £30 for Polestar = £300

Just taken the 7 day free insurance from Volvo in preparation for collecting car on Monday. Very simple and efficient and added the wife as extra driver (I have a bad back and she will need to drive us away). At sometime I must have requested an annual insurance quote. I thought it was pretty impressive £360 for a £60k car albeit with a couple of old crusty full no claims history drivers. I was expecting a significant jump with the near 400bhp. Equally impressed with how it was all there and delivered with details and policies by email - very slick. Not studied in detail but seems very comprehensive with only £300 excess and a voucher for £150. Seems like a good deal and I'll compare with what my broker delivers on Monday.

Just had my quote from Churchill after 2 years with them with almost a 30% increase in premium after no claims. Phoned them to justify the increase and as expected they could not and would not even offer any reduction at all.

Just had a similar experience with Direct Line. Been with them 2 years, nothing's changed and the renewal was £410, up from £310 the previous year. Didn't even bother phoning them for a justification.

Have gone back to LV who quoted £280 for the same level of cover.

I used Volvo 7 day no issues, made life easier, the yr premium was really excessive, so I stayed with Aviva, it was around £230 for a yr for my MY19 XC60 T8
