Thumbs up

Ours is in for the g/box service this morning as we couldn't find any receipts for the fluids being done. The gearbox was shifting really smoothly however I've always been a fan of preventative maintenance. We replaced the gearbox mount earlier in the week so hopefully everything will be even smoother now.

How much is that costing you? Are you getting it done at a dealership, or another garage?

Its costing £140+VAT and we're in Berkshire. Its gone to an auto gearbox specialist in Reading - we phoned around a few places - these guys talked through oil specs etc which made the decision a whole lot easier.

Just picked her up and drive her 15miles home. Gearbox feels as smooth as butter. They flushed the oil until it was red so job seems to have been done properly. The old oil wasn’t too bad and was mid brown in colour - I can’t say how old it was but I certainly couldn’t find a receipt for the last nine years.

It will go mid brown fairly quick as it picks up contaminants (12,500 to 50,000 I don’t know) but you must feel good knowing you had it done.

Well done, it’s often overlooked!

That's very reasonable. A job well done!

I finally got around to doing my oil flush this weekend. The job was very easy to do but did take around 3 hours from start to finish.
I was quite surprised at how dirty the oil looked and even after I had done 3 flushes it wasn't quite red enough for my liking - 2014 @97k miles no towing.
From now on I think I will drain and replace once a year (single drain) to keep it fresh.

I have also reset the oil in vida and if I'm being honest i have not noticed any change in the way it works as others say they do.

Unless you perform a proper flush, as described in VIDA, also referred to as the Gibbons method, the oil will not be a nice cherry red. Drain and fill only changes 2 litres, the total capacity is 7 Litres. Even doing it 3 times will not change the oil completely.

Speaking from experience it’s really not that hard at all to get it cherry red. You should be able to get 2.7l per change and provided you leave it a week between swaps it will get very much cherry red.

I did 4 changes. Low cost, simple and absolutely does come out cherry red at the end.

That sounds like an ideal method! I think the better changes after are perhaps a placebo (although I did few mine was better)!
