Default V90 water running out of tailgate trim

Hi All,

I’ve had my 2017 for about 4 months and love the car but a few weeks ago when I opened the tailgate water ran out of the lock mechanism. The garage I bought it from are hopeless and I am still waiting for them to get back to me.

I think it’s getting worse and seems to happen every time regardless of whether it’s been raining or not. Water has started running out of the trim next to the tailgate handle on the left hand side as well.

So today I thought I’d pull the trim off to see what I can find. I got the trim off and the lock mechanism of too. I’ve attached two photos showing where I think the water is coming from.

Has anyone experienced this before and know the fix? Would be a great help.

Thanks

Gary

I’ll be honest my 6 month old xc60 does the same. After it’s been raining when I open the boot water runs down the left hand side of the rear trim and some of it lands in the boot.

Didn’t consider it an issue to be concerned about tbh. Interested to hear if I should be concerned though.

Gary, I can't see any photos? but as you say that it leaks water even though it hasn't rained it could possibly be the rear washer hose that has come adrift or loose?

I'd be inclined to agree with cassell on this one. Try running the rear wash wipe for a few seconds and then check the tail gate to see if water comes out. The washer jet is just to the right of the high level brake light built in to the rear spoiler, so try removing the trim and trace the pipe work back to see if it as come away from any connections. If all else fails, its a visit to the dealers.

Skip. V90 R Design D5 awd Bursting Blue.
