Default Patients is running thin now

Evening XC90’ers

So breaking problems, started with ABS/DRLC or what ever it is my enthusiasm Is warring thin, scanned for codes which were

ABS-0042 Right rear sensor faulty signal
ABS-0136 Brake pressure sensor 1&2 Signal outside its permitted range
ABS-0041 Right rear wheel faulty signal
ABS-0022 Right Front wheel sensor faulty signal

Then I now get Break system failure stop.

I have removed and checked all sensors for correct continuity and inspected rings etc, no cracks. Removed module under ABS housing cleaned with contactless cleaner, inspected YAW module looked new.

Tried to drive to local car park 200m away to to see is anything has changed ABS light flashes and Motor isn’t aloud to drive it’s as if the ABS is stopping momentum?

Really Hacked of advice old be appreciated, as evening my 6 year over heard me saying I was going to Burn it and now repeats it lol

Volvo
Code:
ABS-0022
Definition:
Right Front Wheel Sensor. Faulty Signal
Description:
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ABS-0012 or ABS-0022 (depending on the wheel sensor affected) is stored if the ABS control module registers that the signal from the wheel sensor is interrupted too many times during a 7 ms period. ABS warning lamp lit.
Cause:

Contact resistance in terminals.
Loose connections in wiring/connections.
The cables are too close to a source of interference.
Cable insulation damaged.
Volvo
Code:
BCM-0136
Definition:
Brake Pressure Sensor 1 And 2. Signal Outside Its Permitted Range
Description:
Brake pressure sensors 1 and 2 provide a signal with the brake system pressure to the brake control module (BCM). Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) BCM-0136 is stored if the control module registers that the signal from any of the pressure sensors is outside its permitted range. Note! The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) applies only to ABS systems equipped with dynamic stability and traction control (DSTC).
Cause:

Open-circuit in the ground lead
Fault in the brake circuit
Defective pressure sensor

Volvo
Code:
ABS-0042
Definition:
Right Rear Wheel Sensor. Faulty Signal
Description:
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ABS-0032 or ABS-0042 (depending on the wheel sensor affected) is stored if the ABS control module registers that the signal from the wheel sensor is interrupted too many times during a 7 ms period. ABS warning lamp lit.
Cause:

Contact resistance in terminals.
Loose connections in wiring/connections.
The cables are too close to a source of interference.
Cable insulation damaged.

Volvo DTC ABS-0041

Make:
Volvo
Code:
ABS-0041
Definition:
Right Rear Wheel Sensor. Faulty Signal
Description:
The control module can register diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) ABS-0031 and ABS-0041 in three different ways: 1. The control module activates the inlet and outlet valves to increase wheel speed when it registers (via the wheel sensor) that a wheel stops or rotates too slowly in relation to car reference speed when the car is being driven or the ABS system is operating and vehicle speed is above 20 km/h (12.5 mph). Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ABS-0031 or ABS-0041 is stored (depending on the wheel sensor) if wheel speed does not increase within 28 seconds and there is no open-circuit in the wheel sensor. 2. The control module has a counter (extrapolation counter) which counts the number of times changes in wheel speed are greater than permitted (calculated). Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ABS-0031 or ABS-0041 is stored (depending on the wheel sensor) if wheel acceleration exceeds 100g and wheel speed exceeds 20 km/h (12.5 mp) (and not the same as vehicle speed) for more than 154 ms. 3. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ABS-0031 or ABS-0041 is stored (depending on the wheel sensor) if the control module registers that the signal from the wheel sensor is missing when starting from a speed below 6 km/h (3.7 mph) or if the slowest wheel rotates at a speed less than 40-60% (depending on vehicle speed) of the fastest wheel and no open-circuit is detected in the wheel sensor circuit.
Cause:

One of the wheels has been blocked while the car has being driven.
Contact resistance in terminals.
Loose connections in the wiring or cable splices.
Ground and signal leads are too near a source of interference.
Loose wheel sensor.
Gap between wheel sensor and pulse wheel to large or too small.
Damaged cable insulation.
Hub vibrations or play in wheel bearings.
Faulty outlet valve in ABS hydraulic modulator.
Defective pulse wheel.
Defective wheel sensor.

The common theme is loose wires or sensor so i'd double check all those first before burning it!
"I have removed and checked all sensors for correct continuity and inspected rings etc, no cracks. Removed module under ABS housing cleaned with contactless cleaner, inspected YAW module looked new"
.. maybe you disturbed something a bit too much when you did the above?

Cheeers for your reply mate all the warnings were on before I started to fault find,
I’ll get the scanner back on and see what happens after I clear all faults who know the affair was going so well

I had the first 3 faults in your list and changing the rear sensor solved it and all 3 codes disappeared. I've had to change that sensor twice now(The rust on the driveshaft cup makes contact with the sensor). Last time only took a couple of hours(Middle seats out) to change- first time took more than 3 hours.
You say the sensor gave correct continuity-I've heard on another forum(Kia I think) from a tec that this is not a reliable test for some reason or another on these sensors. You don't comment on the condition of the sensor - was it damaged?
It may be the reluctor sender(equivalent to a toothed ring) integrated into the wheel bearing that is your problem. (Don't buy cheap rear wheel bearings- a few threads on that on this forum)
I seem to remember that one of the times I had ABS issues that caused limp home mode that when I switched off the DSTC the car drove ok-after a few miles I could then switch the DSTC back on again with no limp home mode-but this may have been the first time I had rear sensor problems and also had a faulty DEM.
Best of luck.

Thanks for all you reply’s I have ordered new sensors all round + front rings might do rear hubs end of the month, also sent the BCM to Volvo Tec to have it health checked,

Once this is all done clean oil and filter wash polish and sell 🥃 I’m Done ✅

When I had code ABS 0042 it was the rear right wheel bearing at fault.

I bought a very good quality replacement hub/bearing and did the job myself.

No further issues

It's more important than usual, to get good quality here.
My pre-owner changed the rear wheel bearing to parts from "polarparts" (both rear bearings together for 38.-EUR incl. shipping). They didn't even last for two years or roughly 10000km... Both were an advisory at the german MOT (so must be changed by me)... In the meantime I've changed all four to SNF/FAG...
