Who's up for doing a list then ? It would need to be done on standard cars known not to be modified, might prove useful if everyone contributes. I'll start.
I've put open diff ie not locker. If you have a locker then obviously put that. Not sure then perhaps add the axle code ie 1030,1031 etc I don't think that 940's had the LSD type diff fitted but it would be interesting to find the same info for 740's etc with solid rear axles. I have attached some general info on the rear axle/diffs from Vadis.
Unfortunately, there were no details as to model/diff combinations. It did, however, say that the ratios available were 3.31:1, 3.54:1, 3.73:1, 3.91:1, and 4.10:1.

I've looked all over the place and couldn't find any more info than that. I recently asked the dealers what info they had and they can only go on the axle sticker details.

Vadis
The stuff from Vadis is interesting - but it does not deal with the lockers.
When I get some more of my cars on the road I will contribute further to your database. I think you want to include the engine type as it seems to be linked, and the autobox type if autobox. |

I found this snippet referring to modifications for the 1997 m/y:
Manual transmission M90H2 is withdrawn and replaced by the M90L2 in which: -First and second gears have higher gear ratios (stronger). -Fifth has a lower gear ratio (lower engine speed (RPM). -gear ratio in the final drive = 3.54:1 (before 3.91:1). The M90H2 remains with the B6254GS with a new gear ratio in the final drive (now = 4.10:1 before = 3.91:1).

Higher/lower
That does not appear to use the words "higher" and "lower" as I would.

Any idea what engines the later gearboxes were fitted to. I think the B200 had been discontinued in all forms by then. The B230 engines would be revving a bit with those diffs fitted, very strange.
I think the engine type is covered but I forgot about the Autobox I will add it to the list. |
