Can anyone confirm this?

Over there is a different market , I doubt you can turn it off in UK as it is part of the emission certification .

Yes, not unlikely. But I can't help hoping it might be possible

It'd be like an Audi having a secret hidden switch that would flip over after the emission category was set to enable greater power, albeit much dirtier Oh, hang on...

Actually this might have some mileage! Reading the specification of the 2019 XC60, you now seemingly have an individual setting on the drive mode select. If this IS the case then one could assume that Start Stop could be permanently disabled in this profile..

You can opt to have it off in individual mode when selected and it is off by default in dynamic mode but it will always default back to comfort mode with stop start activated everytime you turn engine off. And of course you can turn it off via sensus screen but again it defaults back to on when engine turned off.

There is no way of having it permanently turned off that I am aware of, some other makes of cars have a fuse that can be removed or an activation switch but as our cars are relying on the system to achieve the low emission tax bands its on by default every time you start your car.

So what are the guidelines for allowing Stop/Start to engage or not?
I was told if you think the stop is going to be less that 5-6 seconds, keep running (clutch/accelerator etc), and more than this let it stop.

Never seen this written down.
May be dealer test drive bollox (DRIVe V50, back in 2012)
Anything in the XC60 manual (Can't see anything)

There are none, if you dont want it on you have to use one of the options mentioned above, you can "with practice" learn to slow right down and take pressure off the brake pedal to and re-apply brakes to stop and prevent stop start from kicking in but it is a bit hit and miss.

You;re confusing driving MODE and driver PROFILE.. What nu11eaf said- the setting has always been linked to the driving mode (like said- in Dynamic it's off by default + you can set it to off in Individual, if you wish so..) but the car will always default to Comfort when started.. Driver profile, at least up until now, cannot manage start\stop..
