V40 Boot Speaker
Hi all
I have a 2002 V40 with the bass speaker and pillar speakers in the back. The boot speaker is starting to make some noise so I want to get in and have a look at it. The pillar speakers are easy to get at - you just pop off the grill. Is there an easy way to get at the bass speakers? I was hoping to avoid having to take out half the cladding to get at it and its cold and windy outside Cheers! |

This happened to mine as well, the rear sub woofer is what's called a passive radiator design, very advanced for car audio, in that there is a normal bass speaker in the box but also what looks like another speaker but in fact it's just the cone/roll surround with no (motor) magnet/coil assembly attached, this is the passive radiator, and it has a foam roll surround, and on mine they were a little Jewish with the glue that attaches the edge to the frame, it just needs sticking back down all the way around.
This loose flapping/air-leak, is what's making the weird noise. Cheers George |
