440 slight misfiring
I have a 1.8 Si 440 1995 with a strange problem. Only Sherlock Holmes could solve this one!
If the car is used every day no problem runs beautifully. If left for a day or two the following strange effect takes place:- After about 3-4 miles it starts to misfire and (horribly) to even cut out completely at the most awkward places. After about 5 goes at the starter it manages to cough back into life(so far). after that it runs with no problems for unlimited miles. It always follows the same pattern. Before the diagnostic facility packed up I tried that a while ago. The only code that came up showed a fault on the air temperature sensor which I believe is in the single point injector, although why this would cause a problem I've no idea. I don't know what this does anyway. If this can't be solved i'm afraid it's goodbye to my old friend which has served me very faithfully (150,000 miles) Vic Pool |
