Default S40 P1 petro auto - headlight reflector pinged loose

I was changing the second headlight as per recommendation to do in pairs - fiddle fiddle - ping! Wobbly reflector- Damn.

- now jammed in place with a plastic azzura coffee lid.

The ebay link has died - is this the same thing?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLVO-FRO...cAAOSwbtVZS8FN

MOT looming in couple of weeks - hence things going wrong :-)

Can this be done in situ - its not great accessibility - or is the headlight going to have to come out - then the dilemma to try to remove as is - or to loosen bumper....

What year is your car? Do you have the twin lens headlights with the two H7 bulbs or the singlethe lens headlights with one H4 bulb?

And yes, headlight has to come out

Default Headlight YAW replced - now alignments?

s40 1.8 petrol auto x reg P1
Just replaced the headlight plastic yaw thingy.
I used the wiggle jiggle procedure rather than lowering bumper - bit of patience and it can be done - suspect if you have equipment etc to hand the other procedure is just as quick.
Removing the motor was a quandary - rather than just pulling it out I inserted a screw driver and eased it out - awkward but I did not want to break anything.

Big question - how does one realign the headlight beam - I know I can access the two adjuster - hoping I only have to re tweak the one I have replaced. Can you do it by parking in front of a wall in the dark - or do I have to get Volvo to do it for me as per Haynes manual?

You need to pop down to your local MOT station and ask them to reset the beam on their alignment tester. Most places will do it for a drink as it only takes a few minutes.
