Default Clearing out windscreen scuttle 240?

Morning gentlemen,

Some 'moss' growth within the windscreen scuttle/bulkhead box section, from lack of use over the winter?

Asides from making a plastic special tool,to break it all up fit the 'dyson' and trying to vaccum it out? Or compressed air?
Anybody any experiences,of how to succesfully remove the 'moss/leaves' ? 'before' it becomes an issue, blocking up water drains etc...

Tack sa mycket

Hi,

I normally prod it about with a long screwdriver than spray the affected area with a garden sprayer luckily my drainage holes are in good condition.

I haven't done it recently as my own 240 is still off the road, however now you have mentioned it this weekend is as good a time as any.

Oooh yeh, I had fun with this. I left my car parked under some trees for quite a while and the vents filled with leaves which turned into one solid 'clump'.
I had to use a piece of dowel to break up the clump and a long pair of tweezers with flat ends to pull the bits out. It's all about 'a little bit at a time', slow and tedious.
I tried an industrial hoover whilst blocking the rest of the vent but it didn't work.

I devised a way of fitting an extension to the hoover snake of a much reduced diameter. In fact it reduces in two stages for different situations - the smallest is a piece of flexible pipe that will squeeze through the grill.
It sucks up very small bits, and larger pieces stick on the end and can be withdrawn.

I originally used it for cleaning out the gaps under the planking of a clinker-built boat. As a makeshift just wrap your handkerchief round the small pipe and stuff it in the end of the snake.

Ahhh, I've done that as well! Luckily all of the clinker built boats I've decided to restore have been so bad that I've ended up replacing all of the ribs and half the planks so not so much rubbish in the gaps.
Good idea with the reducer for the OPs grill vents.
