On low coolant level my orange "screen washer level low" indicator now lights up.
Recently I had the instrument panel out and moved the screen washer indicator wire from connector B pos.10 to connector C pos.10. I now get a red indicator with a radiator symbol lighting up (originally for high engine temp. indicator that is not fitted).
This is a great idea! Is the sensor you are referring to Volvo part 3547710? Is it possible to attach this to the 940 cooling tank? Thanks

Do you have the "torpedo" shaped tank or the later 850 style square tank Will?

If so, the same tank is also used on the later cars with a built in sensor/switch. The problem trying to attach a sensor to a non-sensor tank is sealing it in.

Mine is the rectangle one and I had already got a replacement for when I overhaul the coolant system which has the float thing in it I think? It rattles when I shake it. I love the idea of plugging in the screen washer sensor wiring and making that a coolant level monitor

It seems they all have the float but not the sensor

https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-part...olant/1012366/

You can buy that separately but not sure how it fits

Given the price of the sensor separately, it would probably be cheaper to buy a secondhand tank from a breaker complete with the sensor and cut the wiring loom on the donor car to obtain the plug for it.

I'll need to check my 98 Celebration breaker. I removed the tank but don't seem to remember it having a sensor. I have a feeling it only came on 960/V90 so not anywhere near as common in breakers
