So I've been quite busy getting the car up to scratch,
The first job to tackle was the cambelt, I've done quite a few over the years and this has to be the simplest of the lot from the amount of room available., 91212657_3060639573993346_6752458088537653248_n.jpg 91855525_224477555580238_2688030158652178432_n.jpg I didn't have a crank holding tool for the pulley, but it was simple enough to remove the starter motor and I had a perfectly sized (ironically) VAG crank holding tool which locked into the flywheel teeth perfectly. Cambelt fitment was made super easy by the fool proof timing mark on the belt...... happy with the job |

Whilst I was under the car I noticed the radiator was weeping from the drivers side front corner, where the plastic and aluminium are crimped.
So a new radiator was ordered along with service items and waterpump. 91292316_847793612353763_8214750970853195776_n.jpg 91432782_510699842946104_2865197525252440064_n.jpg I almost had a heart attack when ATF fluid started dripping out of the old radiator, I never knew the cooler for the auto box was built into the radiator. Next on the list was the waterpump, I had already ordered an SKF water pump so decided to go ahead and replace, the old one was the original Volvo one by the looks of it and with the car now ticking over 167K I thought may as well replace. I have kept the old one as a spare as it did look in good nick once I had removed. 91316350_1364419543750879_8031379429504581632_n.jpg Nice and shiny |

The next job to tackle was the ABS sensor, I checked the resistance in both sensors N/S/F and O/S/F, both were way out of tolerance and in the MOhms.
I order two sensors and tackled away at both, they arent the easiest of jobs due to them being heavily seized in. It soon became apparant that the best way was to strip the wheels, calipers, carriers and discs off to get access. 91320712_229809694882471_1788541462862888960_n.jpg It needed quite a bit of brute force with a decent drift and hammer to knock them both out, once out a good clean up of the locating holes and the new ones tapped in no problems. 91458381_525890611427147_2167783613356048384_n.jpg 91358490_155125942415349_1118407435178999808_n.jpg Horrahhh...... ABS light is no longer on the dash upon startup and driving. 91196441_204775094280095_1186447791686156288_n.jpg |

I fitted my boost gauge to the centre storage pocket thingy, but wasnt overly keen on the fitment, so I decided to use the broken door pocket off the drivers door card to make a facia for the boost gauge, but still be able to use the cig/charge point.

MCB is fitted and its pulling nicely around 0.7/0.8 bar. 91264497_252833455747898_8176244828107964416_n.jpg Next on the list is:- - to replace the drivers door card pocket, - Scabby windscreen trim to replace - detail and interior valet, now i'm ontop of the mechaincal issues. At least this lock down is giving me an opportunity to get stuff done. Stay safe everyone :-) Last edited by V70Moss; Mar 31st, 2020 at 19:00. |

Also interested to know where you got your abs sensors from ? I need two for my front end refurb. Silly money from Volvo but I'm wary of el cheapos being rubbish

Hi I ended up getting some off ebay, approx £25 each - it does say 5 year warranty. Now ive changed them if one did go faulty would be simple to change out, but they seem well built.
Thanks for the doorcard offer, I have sourced a door pocket, I just need to get round to fitting it. Thanks |
