Default Reliability of v70xc 1998 in the electronics aspect?

I get near an V70xc with less than 150,000 km but I don't know if they are realiable?

I know the AWD is the first thing that goes off. but for me the most worrying things are electronics, how reliable is the electronic aspect of this cars?

Also I read somewhere that since 1999 all the Volvos have some ECM or ignition thing that became electric while in the past was just mechanical?

I don't like electronic nightmares: like car not starting, crazy wiper blades, crazy DIM, crazy lights or things like.

so any opinion?

AND comparing the V70 reliability vs 850 reliability (again in the electronics aspect) which is the most reliable?

The best thing you can do is buy a Volvo amazon. Bullet proof in all aspects and better than money in the bank. Personally I believe they are the most practical useable classic car of all time. The only downside is that they are now getting too expensive to buy as a daily run about.

I own two Mk1 cross country's, one is a late 1997, the other a 2000. Other than the all wheel drive giving problems, (check it does actually have a prop shaft) they are no different to the other models but later 1999 onwards do have more electronics though. Remember, at over 20 years old now, maintenance will always be an ongoing issue. Best looking of the V70's in my opinion and will soon be as rare as hens teeth!

Early V70's are similar to the 850. I personally prefer the 850, even if it is just the fact that you have a key lock on the passenger side!!. I have owned a 1996 850 TDI for nearly 12 years now, It has been the most reliable car I could have wanted or dreamed of. However, I don't expect the next 12 to be the same!
