Default 850 T5-R Exhaust Tail Pipe

I am aware that the 850 T5-R Estate originally came with a square/rectangular tail pipe. What I can't confirm is what colour it was. Chrome or Black?

The images in the original sales brochure are a bit ambiguous, the pipe looks dark but it could just be a trick of the light.

Can anyone confirm as I'm looking to fit a pipe as close to the original as possible.

I'm almost certain they were of a matt black but, whatever steel was used at the time, they didn't last very long at all hence the lack of photos.

When I bought my first 850 2.0ltr the previous had fitted one of those cheap and nasty chrome banana type ends (it was horrendous! ) but I was lucky enough to source an aftermarket square matt black one from EuroCarParts. Unfortunately, that was back in 2003.

Closest I've seen to date is the Simons one from R&D Car Parts.

Go on ebay and purchase a length of stainless tubing with an internal diameter to slide over the existing pipe. You can then polish up or paint to your hearts delight. Shape up as desired in a vice (oval or square to round) drill a through hole towards the back of the tube- weld on a small nut and use a bolt to clamp in place ( stainless fitting are best here) the tube that I used for a ’97 V70 tail pipe is far superior than the overpriced replacements.
Hope it helps. Bob.

Thank you but I've just ordered the overpriced one at R&D parts! I wouldn't have the equipment or technical know how to do my own anyway. But thank you! It's a Simons exhaust that's already on the car but with a round tailpipe. Want mine to look close to the original.
